Mission

MnemeTherapy® uses everyday pleasures such as singing, movement, painting and story telling in a unique combination to stimulate dramatic changes in the brain. Although our goal is to provide a rewarding experience, documented testimonies show significant improvement in some clients in verbal skills, mobility, combativeness, spatial acuity and understanding instructions.
MnemeTherapy® is a multi-modality process. AWB uses not only art, but singing, movement, patterning, directional painting, sustained attentive focus, story-telling, and praise to achieve AWB's goals. It's the act of painting, not the painting itself that does the work of reorienting the brain through multiple means of communication!
Students produce paintings to improve self-esteem and sense of accomplishment. MnemeTherapists also use painting as an assessment tool, noting horizons, boundaries and other "tells" based on information such as tactile awareness and directional orientation.
"AWB" is a Professional Association with the mission to improve the quality of life for individuals with Autism, Alzheimer's disease and other related disorders of the brain by promoting MnemeTherapy®. To accomplish that, we recruit, train and certify artists to become MnemeTherapists. MnemeTherapy is "brain therapy" not "art therapy".
